Most people would like to keep a young and fresh look forever.
This is not easy, as our skin ages due to excessive sun exposure
and due to decreased production of collagen. Skin Rejuvenation
treatment with Ellipse system will help you to keep a younger
and fresher-looking face. The safe, visible light emitted
from a flash lamp makes your face look smoother by removing
age spots and diffuse redness and by improving your skin texture.
Uneven pigmentation will also be reduced. Many women report
that it becomes easier to apply makeup.
Facial treatments are most popular, but all body sites can be treated.
How does this treatment work for your skin?
The Ellipse flash lamp produces light, which is carefully
filtered before it reaches the skin; this ensures that only
light of the correct "types" (technically described
as "wavelengths") are allowed to reach the skin
- the non-useful wavelengths are removed by the filters. The
light that is allowed through has been chosen because it is
the sort that two natural body substances respond to. Age
spots contain higher than normal amounts substance called
melanin. Diffuse redness is caused by an increased number
of tiny blood vessels which contain hemoglobin. When cells
containing a lot of melanin or hemoglobin are hit with the
correct type of light, they heat up and are destroyed within
a few thousandths of one second.
Can I be treated?
As treatment is based on light absorption in melanin and
in hemoglobin, treatments are most efficient in patients with
light skin, who are not sun-tanned at the time of the treatment.
The unique software of the Ellipse system is pre-programmed
for different skin colours and adjusts the energy output to
match the requirements of your skin.
How long does Ellipse treatment take?
The glass prism of the Ellipse hand piece which guides the
light to the skin, is 1 cm by 5 cm enabling treatment of a
large area in one flash. A full-face treatment takes less
than 20 minutes.
Expect a total of 1 - 3 treatments.
Does it hurt?
Pain tolerance is very individual from person to person.
No anesthetics are required and many patients describe the
discomfort as a warming sensation similar to the feeling one
has during an evening after a day on the beach. The lighter
the skin colour, the lesser the pain.
Do I need to take special precautions before and after
treatment?
The visible light used is completely safe and contains no
UV wavelengths. However, since the light is absorbed by melanin,
it is extremely important to avoid sun tanning before the
whole Ellipse treatment procedure. Otherwise the light will
be absorbed by melanin in the skin surface, making the treatment
more uncomfortable and less effective.
Generally no post-treatment care is necessary but people
with sensitive skin may benefit from applying an ice pack
to the face immediately after treatment or applying some cream
prescribed by the doctor. Furthermore, it is recommended to
use a sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) for a few weeks following
the treatment.
What can I expect?
You may notice that the skin looks a little “dirty”
for a few days following treatment. After that you will find
that your skin looks smoother and fresher.

HOW DOES THIS TREATMENT WORK?

Ellipse treatment works by directing well controlled pulses of light into the upper skin. The light is absorbed by one of the body's own natural chemicals - haemoglobin - found in the red blood cells.
Haemoglobin converts the light energy into heat. The heat is transferred to the wall of the blood vessel, which are permanently damaged and removed by the body' own defence mechanism. The method of converting light to and using it to destroy the target without damaging the surrounding tissues is called Selective Photothermolysis.
The visible light produced by the ellipse system is carefully controlled to produce the correct pulse length and right amount to energy to destroy the vessel. Best results are obtained on patients who have light to medium skin.
WHAT AREA’S CAN BE TREATED?
The face, neck & chest are areas that can be treated. You may need 2 - 4 treatments, one month apart for best results.
HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT TAKE?
The glass prism of the Ellipse hand piece which guides the light to the skin is 1cm by 5cm enabling treatment of a large area in one flash. This treatment is non invasive and can be performed in 10 - 15 minutes for small areas. If treating the full face, it may take up to 20minutes. Expect a total of 2 - 4 treatments.
BEFORE & AFTER THE TREATMENT
The visible light used is completely safe and contains no UV wavelengths. However, since the light is absorbed by melanin, it is extremely important to avoid sun tanning before the whole Ellipse treatment procedure. Otherwise the light will be absorbed by melanin in the skin surface, making the treatment more uncomfortable and less effective.
We recommend that you use a vitamin c serum to increase the healing process and a sunscreen (minimum SPF 30) to protect the skin following the treatment.
DOES IT HURT?
Pain tolerance varies from each individual. No anaesthetics are required and many patients describe the discomfort as a warming sensation.
